I am writing to request your assistance to promote the RACS Rowan Nicks Scholarships to suitable surgeons. The Rowan Nicks Scholarships are the most prestigious of RACS’ International Awards and are directed at surgeons who are destined to become surgical leaders of the future.
The Scholarship aims to provide opportunities for surgeons to demonstrate their potential to become leaders in their country of origin, and/or to surgeons who will return to supply a much-needed service in a particular surgical discipline, and to encourage greater interaction between the surgical communities of Australia and New Zealand and the rest of the Asia-Pacific.
The objective of the Rowan Nicks Scholarship is to ‘teach the teachers to teach others’, and the Selection Committee must be assured that Scholars have a sense of responsibility to the needs of their home base.
The Rowan Nicks Scholarships provides a living allowance. The value of the award may be reduced if the candidate receives a salary or funding from another source while undertaking the Scholarship program.
The Selection Committee would greatly appreciate your assistance in encouraging applicants for the Rowan Nicks Scholarship. I enclose the advertisement including the application criteria and the application form, and kindly request that you distribute to your network or publicise around the institution.
Applications for the 2020 Scholarship has been extended and closes on 31 August 2019.
